This resume template is a simple, single-page format designed for students, engineers, managers, and professionals in business or administrative roles. It divides content into two main columns: a sidebar for personal and quick-reference information and a main column for career details. Sections include work experience, education, skills, certifications, and projects. You can add, remove, or adjust these based on your background. The layout is designed to be easy to edit and works for both first-time job applicants and experienced professionals.

How to Use This Template

Using this simple template, you can build a resume by customizing the sections, removing parts that don’t apply or adjusting the layout to suit your background. In the following guide, we’ll walk through each section and explain how to fill in your information to create a professional resume.

About Me

This section appears at the top of the sidebar and is meant to provide a brief introduction along with key personal details. The paragraph space can be used for a short professional summary or deleted for a cleaner layout. The profile photo is optional and can be removed without disrupting the format. Including a photo can add a professional touch and create a more personalized first impression, especially when applying in fields where presentation and credibility are important.

Objective

This section is intended for a short career summary placed near the top of your resume. Use it to communicate your professional focus, key strengths, or the type of role you’re pursuing. Keep it concise—one to three lines is usually enough. Avoid general statements and write this section to match the position or field you’re applying to. If you already include a summary in the “About Me” section, this part can be shortened or removed to avoid repetition.

Education

Use this section to list your academic background, starting with your most recent or highest qualification. Include the degree title, institution name, and year of completion. You may also mention your major or area of focus if it relates to the role. If space is limited or you have an extensive academic history, focus on the most relevant qualifications.

Language

This section is optional and should be included if language skills are relevant to the role or workplace. List the languages you speak along with your proficiency level. Prioritize those that are required or commonly used in the field or region you’re applying in. If language skills are not essential to the position, this section can be shortened or removed.

Pro Tip

It’s recommended to mention the languages you speak and your level of proficiency. In roles involving international teams, customer interaction, or global clients, this can strengthen your application by showing readiness to work across cultures or markets.

Reference

This section is optional and typically used to indicate that references are available upon request. You don’t need to list names or contact details unless specifically asked by the employer. If space is limited or references will be shared separately, this section can be removed without concern.

Experience

Use this section to list your recent and relevant work history, starting with the most current position. For each role, include your job title, company name, duration, and a few key points describing what you worked on and accomplished. Focus on measurable results and responsibilities that align with the role you’re applying for. Use active verbs and keep descriptions brief but specific. If you’re early in your career, include internships, part-time jobs, or volunteer roles that reflect transferable skills.

Skills

Highlight core strengths and areas of expertise relevant to the role. Group skills into categories such as technical skills, tools, or soft skills based on your field. Focus on the skills you’ve actually used in past roles or projects. Avoid generic terms or unrelated skills, as they can weaken the impact of this section and distract from your actual qualifications.

Projects

Include a selection of projects that show your ability to solve problems, build solutions, or lead initiatives. Each entry should be limited to a line or two, mentioning what the project was and the outcome or impact. Focus on work that reflects your current skill level or aligns with the role you’re applying for. Academic, personal, freelance, or team-based projects can all be included if relevant.

Pro Tip

Choose projects that highlight results or skills not already covered under your job experience; this will give your resume added depth without repeating the same points.

Certifications

List professional certifications that are relevant to the role or industry. Include the certificate name, issuing organization, and the year it was earned. If you hold multiple certifications, list the most recent or role-specific ones first. Skip any that are outdated or not directly connected to your current career goals. Listing relevant certifications will demonstrate your commitment to professional development and staying current in your field.

Interests

This section is optional and should be used only if the listed interests add value to your resume. Focus on activities that reflect teamwork, creativity, leadership, or long-term commitment—such as volunteering, mentoring, speaking engagements, or relevant hobbies. Avoid listing casual or overly personal interests unless they relate directly to the job or industry. This section can give hiring managers a brief sense of your personality and engagement beyond work.
