1. Where These Rules Apply
This process applies to copyright complaints about materials published on highfile.com and any related pages, subdomains, downloads, and membership areas operated by Highfile.
Copyright complaints are different from trademark complaints, privacy complaints, or general content concerns. If your request is about something else, you can still contact us and we will route it to the right place.
2. How to Submit a DMCA Notice
To report a copyright concern, email your notice to [email protected].
For the fastest review, include the information below in one message. Missing details can delay review or prevent us from acting on the request.
What Your Notice Must Include
- Your contact details including your full name, company name if applicable, and a working email address
- A clear description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed
- The exact location on Highfile where the material appears, such as the page URL, download page URL, or other direct link
- The location of the original work such as a URL to the official source, publication, portfolio, or registration record if available
- A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, an agent, or the law
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner
- Your physical or electronic signature such as typing your full legal name at the end of the email
Recommended Details That Speed Up Review
- Screenshots or short excerpts that show the specific part you believe is copied
- Any registration or ownership documentation if you have it
- Notes on what you believe the copied portion is and why it is protected
3. Our Review Process
After receiving a complete notice, we review the claim carefully and investigate how the reported material appears on Highfile. This review may include checking internal creation files, production records, licensing sources when third-party assets are involved, and publication history.
If we confirm the material should not be available on Highfile, we will remove or disable access to it and take reasonable steps to address the cause so the same issue is less likely to happen again. That may include internal audits, process updates, and review of related items that could be affected.
If the notice is incomplete or unclear, we may request additional information before we can move forward.
4. If We Decide There Is No Infringement
Sometimes a complaint involves a misunderstanding, incomplete identification of the copyrighted material, content that is licensed, or content that is not protected by copyright in the way described.
If, after review, we determine the material does not infringe copyright or we believe we have the right to publish it, we may keep the content available. We may also request supporting proof, clearer identification of the copyrighted portions, or documentation showing ownership so we can evaluate the claim properly.
5. Counter Notification
Highfile content is produced by our internal team, so counter notifications are not always necessary in the same way they are on user-upload platforms. Still, there are situations where content is removed or disabled due to mistake or misidentification.
If content is removed or disabled based on a DMCA notice and we believe the removal was incorrect, we may submit a counter notification where appropriate. If you submitted the notice and disagree with our decision, you can reply with additional details supporting your claim, including proof of ownership and a clearer identification of the copyrighted work and the allegedly infringing portions.
6. Misrepresentation and Abuse
DMCA notices are legal statements. Submitting a notice that is knowingly false or materially misleading can carry legal consequences. We may decline requests that appear abusive, incomplete, or made in bad faith.
7. Repeat or Large-Scale Infringement Concerns
If we identify repeated attempts to misuse Highfile materials, bypass access controls, or distribute copyrighted Highfile content without permission, we may take reasonable steps to protect the Site. This can include blocking access, limiting downloads, or restricting accounts as needed.
